报告:Real-time Analytics for Long-lifecycle Infrastructure

摘要:In this talk I will provide a personal experience in real-time analytics for long-lifecycle infrastructure based on our projects sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Specifically, I will describe a real-time bridge-monitoring system employing distributed in-network data analysis algorithms for damage detection based on iterative modal identification. Then I will introduce a novel concept of wireless signal networks for temporally and spatially continuous underground sensing based on our proven hypothesis that the variation of the link quality between wireless sensor nodes can be used as an effective global sensing mechanism which reflects characteristics of geo-media subjected to various geo-events. Finally I will offer thoughts on how the new technological wave of real-time infrastructure analytics may evolve along with smarter cities development.
报告人简介:Dr. Liang Cheng has been the Principal Investigator (PI) and a Co-PI of seventeen projects supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the Defense
Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE),
Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, Agere Systems, Inc.,
East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., PPL Corporation, and ABB Inc.. His research is
geared toward enabling smarter cities based on real-time sensing, model-driven
data analytics, and distributed trust systems through inter-disciplinary projects,
and he has authored/co-authored more than 100 papers. He has served as an expert
reviewer for project/grant proposals/panels for programs in U.S. such as NSF, DOE,
NIH (National Institute of Health), and GENI (Global Environment for Network Innovations),
and in Europe such as The Knowledge Foundation and Austrian Science Fund. Dr. Cheng
is an Associate Professor at Lehigh University and he has advised six Ph.D. students
to their graduation and supervised two postdocs. Dr. Cheng was a Visiting Professor at
TU Dortmund, Germany and University of Science and Technology of China. More information
